Sign of Remembrance

A neighbor down the streets mom passed away and asked me to make twin signs for him and his brother. Obviously her name was Annabelle, and so was the name of his boat.So I used the waves from Carbides library and V Carved the whole thing up. I put a 3/8"juice grove in it to help keep the rope in line. 24K gold paint for the letters and some free mix blue/white for the waves. I am a painter at a cabinet shop so they got Axalta Gloss Top Coat. Finished off with Brass boat cleats as hangers. This was my first big project and I am new to the world of CNC and CAD/CAM. But am happy with how they turned out, and Todd cried when he saw them so that was Cool. What do you think? Thank you for reading.

Hi all, Thanks for the likes and views.

Excellent work!

I too am new to the CNC world - did you hand paint the gold letters and waves?

Thank you for sharing and my condolences to your neighbor.

Very nice work.

Hello Dave,
Thanks and yes I carved first then painted. I should have painted then carved, as covering the black with the hand painted Gold took 4 coats with 48 hrs. dry time in between.( Lesson Learned ). Also the waves are hand done, I’m no pro at that part but I think they came out ok. It’s a Journey LOL.

Thank You so much Anthony.

A great job. Sure doesn’t look like the work of someone new to CNC. I’m sure your neighbor and his brother are thrilled with this. A great remembrance that will last a lifetime.

Great Looking Signs. And a great idea of linking the boat, and waves for the two brothers memories.

Hello Art,
I appreciate the compliment. And yes They are very happy with them.

Hello Jesse,
Thank you, I am an ex-Commercial Diver ( Thats a young man’s game ) so the whole boat wave concept was a lot of fun to do.

My cousin dove on offshore rigs after he got out of the Navy. When he was 71 years old he still dreamed of finding Spanish treasure in the Gulf even though his diving days were over. Dreams die hard.

Hello Guy,
Yes Once Gold takes a hold of your mind it’s hard to not dream of it. I know some guys who worked with Mel Fisher on the Atocha. I almost got on with them but didn’t  . I did however get a musket ball held by a Silver Octopus from the Atocha. And that’s where our tale end’s. Yarr.
Peace to You.
