I’m looking to engrave a signature on the back of a wood coaster with my SP Pro. Any recommendations on toolpath and end mill? I realize it may be a challenge as it’s quite a small space.
A V carving with a quite acute tool?
What would be an acute enough tool? 1/16? Or should I use a pcb engraver?
Perhaps the 30 degree V endmill from:
I’ve been using it as a V endmill:
(Please verify and test those feeds and speeds on your machine before committing to a cut/project)

A coaster is a huge amount of space as far as CNC engraving is concerned. Can you be more specific about the height/sizing of the signature? And what exactly your source material is though will have an impact on the tooling required and the end result. (ex single line vector or bitmap)
Is your signature going to be brought in as a single, open vector? You can have any tool (Vee-bit or regular flat or ball-nose endmill) just follow the line. That will give you an engraved signature that has a uniform width. Kind of like with a ballpoint pen. But if you want something fancier, and you want the width of the engraving to vary (fountain pen style), then Vee-bit is 100% the way to go.
I’ve been thinking of going this route. You could also make your own.
@wmoy did a video on making a branding iron.
I bought one from them, the electric version. It’s pretty nice.
