I make wooden panels for backing painting canvases. The cheap and easiest way is using birch plywood. It doesn’t warp. A traditional and more fancier method is to use whole wood panels. Unfortunately the larger dimensions are more likely to warp. To solve the warping ribbing is used across the grain in the panels. The easy way would be to make a pocket across the grain and glue a cross board into the pocket.
I would like to use a single dove tail joint down the center of the pocket to add strength.
The question I have is in CarbideCreate how I get the dove tail bit to the proper depth before getting to the edge of the wood? If I make the work area larger than my wood, I have issues using the Set Zero probe to set my zero point.
