Since we’re asking for features a “Simplify Toolpath” would be great. Adobe Illustrator has this feature. Yes, I can do this in Illustrator however it would be nice to do so in Carbide Create.
In CC, toolpath linearizes the curves based on a tolerance.
To illustrate this, in illustrator find or create a curve with a lot of nodes. Copy it & simplify it.
Import both curves & create a toolpath for each. they should be nearly identical.
PNG traced straight into Carbide Create. It would be a nice feature to have the ability to simplify a tool path.
That’s not a toolpath. What you are describing here is a vector. So, I think what you are asking for is a feature to simplify vectors.
True. In my case they become tool paths but I understand the need to be accurate so yes, simplify path, vector, tool path, geometry, etc. would be a nice feature.
The new Beziér option in Offset allows one to do this after a fashion.
Given a polyline:
If one offsets it to the outside by a small dimension:
and then repeats the process offsetting to the inside, but checking the box:
Then one gets geometry which approximates the original, but is made up of a far smaller quantity of Curve nodes:
It does help reduce the amount of nodes so thank you Will. I appreciate the effort and knowledge.
