I’ve been playing around a bit with FreeCAD. I’m not sure it is for me.
I am pretty familiar with SketchUp, but SketchUCam isn’t really my cup of tea, either.
Are there any CAM packages that will allow me to open a file created with SketchUp and then generate g-code compatible with grbl?

There are some options listed at: https://wiki.shapeoko.com/index.php/Commercial_Software#3D_CAD
The most expedient is to export an STL and use MeshCAM or some other 3D CAM tool which will accept an STL.

I’ve been using this sketchup plugin for 2.5D work, but you still need to go through Carbide Create to generate g-code. Probably not quite what you’re looking for, but it’s something I’ve had good success with.
