Slipping Axis , cuts aren’t smooth

I’m going to post some photos here and see if anyone can confirm what I need to do to fix this issue.

I’ve searched “axis slipping” in this forum and found solutions as far as tightening bolts but that’s about it.

My machine has been working great until the last couple cuts and I feel it’s getting worse. I confirmed the lines cuts do not coincide with what my carbide create/motion show it should look like, so I’m sure it’s a machine problem.

Do I look around for more loose bolts? Is it a electrical/connectivity issue? Or is it an issue with my bands where the motors run back and forth on?

I have seen some black rubber build-up on the metal rollers, and have also tried to keep the area below and beneath those bands clear of debris, to prevent anything from causing the rollers from running rough.

Any other suggestions for my early-stage CNC hobby self would be much appreciated…

Sounds like you are ready for one of these.

Check for mechanical slop. With the machine on & the spindle off, try to move the tool left/right, forward/back, and up/down. Narrow down the slop & fix it.

If once it’s off it stays off, search for lost steps. Something exceeded the force of the stepper motors & prevented motion. Usually an obstruction or too aggressive cutting.

Perfect. I’ll be purchasing one today. I figured that was my issue, work out parts need to be replaced. Thanks!

That sounds good, I’ll be testing that out later today. Thanks!
