Slitting Saw on the Shapeoko? It CAN be done!

Growing up I always prefered the Lathe over the mill…it was just a little safer…I mean all machines are dangerous…but I think it was those darn Slitting Saws that nearly always broke on me when I ran them…lol

Well, since I wanted to make a pretty part for @downrazor11 I figured I would try a slitting saw on the Shapeoko (PS In the past, I used a Dremel cutoff wheel, ugly sure, but it worked just fine).

First I felt safe since my Enclosure is covered in Lexan…yes, bullet proof… Well, I was shocked at how well it worked…Again the Shapeoko has impressed me!

PS I was wrong about my Makita Router…it will be FIVE (5) years old next month…NOT 4…and still running the OEM Brushes…the SOCK might be UGLY…but it works.

PPS Sure wish I could post short movies here…

Watched your video on IG, and that is sweet!

I have always wondered if I could use one of these. I have a couple ideas that I want to try that would require one. Where did you get the tool? What were your speeds? I don’t have an instagram or I would look at your posts there.

Here is the item on Ebay (Diamond Cutoff Wheels, 50mm)

Arbor: Something I’ve had in my toolbox for many years.
