Hello I am trying to design a turkey plaque and want to put a small picture of a turkey on the face. Question is what bit would be the best to use doing such small work. I used a 30 degree V bit and it hardly scratched the surface. When I set it to go deeper it didn’t make much difference.
Post the file?
How does your cut compare to the 3D preview?
3D? When I go to see tool path then you can hardly see the picture. I am not sure how to post the file,
To get a view you can see I uncheck paths and rapids.
You can change the view from one type of material or another to get a view that works for you.
The above arrow will guide you to how to attach it. If you need more let us know
If the file has fine lines the larger the vee bit the less it cuts. So for some projects I use a 15 degree for fine lines. Another issue is limiting depth of cut in a simple vcarve. Use the bottom of stock and/or “t” and the bit will cut as deep as necessary to touch both sides of the line/lines.
A simple vcarve sends the vee bit down the center of a line/lines. So if you limit depth of the cut the results look funny. An advanced vcarve does something different. The end mill can cut out flat parts but if that area is too small for the endmill then only the vee is called. In advanced vcarve the vee bit goes around the perimeter of the line and not down the middle.
Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner but I was hunting. I am not sure how to send you this file.
I just drag & drop from a file manager while I’m typing a Reply. (Or the Upload button above works.)
