I was cutting 1" HDPE and it smoked my router. Any recommendations on what I should replace my router with? Likely the spindle is needed for this material.
Also, should I be using specialized endmill bits?
Thanks.

O flute bits work best for HDPE and acrylic cutting. They may not leave a nice smooth pocket surface though so may should experiment. I have found that the #102 bit leaves a nicer surface in ColorCore.
If you have the C3D or Makita router you can buy a replacement armature and bearings for less than $50. I did that once and ultimately switched to a 65mm spindle. Different brand but same form factor.
Thank you very much.
sell your kids and buy a spindle
I would have to insist on a no return policy
Just wanted to thank Carbide 3D. I informed them of my situation and wound up ordering a router to continue my work. They said, “It sounds like a filed bearing. We did see an issue when the Mount was tightened more than 6ft lbs.” But I haven’t touched the mounting since assembly without issue.
They just sent me a backup router in case the problem happened again. I’m all set for now, without any issue but it was a great customer service experience. Thanks Brandon and Carbide 3D.
I don’t have to sell my only offspring at this time for a spindle.
