SO4-XL Lifting with hoist

Hello All,

I am a new owner of a SO4 XL and I am wondering if anyone lifts their machine using a winch?
I would like to move mine to and from a storage cart when not is use on my mobile workbench.

I am worried about the rigidity of the unit so wondering if anyone else has tried this or has fabricated some sort of bed or torsion box platform. I would prefer to just put straps under it and lift without having to build a platform.

Just looking for suggestions, thanks in advance.

Yes, folks have done this.

We recommend making a torsion box and blocking the machine in at the corners — directly using straps creates the possibility that uneven tension on the straps could torque the machine out of square.

Yes, I have the Shapeoko 3xl. I have a piece 1”plywood under it. Small 1500lb Champion winch in rafters. I reinforced the roof rafters for winch mounting ran 1/4” vinyl covered cables under plywood (made small grooves in plywood for cables to lay in) when lifting machine cables do not slide. Works great for my needs. My CNC lays on top of Delta table saw. I

Just raise it up out of the way as needed. My shop is only 10x14. So every inch counts.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Thank you for the pictures, helps a lot.

Thank you to all!
Torsion Box built and definitely the way to go. If someone ends up here in the future looking to do the same thing here are a few pictures to help you get some ideas.
