Thats funny, because ‘knock one out’ has a different meaning over here
Ah, the British (and their colonies) and the Americans, two peoples separated by a common language.
It gets worse when one needs to work on specialties such as typography which have specific conventions.
That is true, I bet I’ve given them plenty to snicker over.
That by far was the quickest thing I have ever knocked up - 1500mm a min 3mm doc. Minor modification to the design to allow it to be twisted on rather than pushed if the button isn’t down.
Fusion file can be found here - I used 12mm ply but you could use anything and change the thickness - just remember to re-generate the tool path.
Here in Hershey, we don’t use the word “snicker” because that’s a Mar’s product.
I don’t have Fusion (that is a paid product, no?). Is it possible to export a DXF of the profile?
Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists and for businesses doing less than $100k a year.
As @Boothecus says it’s free for the amateur. If not I can export as a STEP if you want?
Just noticed your clamping system…care to share files?
I used Fusion 360 and only did the hole and slot with CNC. Everything else I did on the table saw.
I’m sure glad this thread got resurrected. What a great idea! I’ve been cursing whenever I have to change the cutter ever since I installed my SuckIt. Always banging my knuckles on the plexi bracket. Thanks for the file.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who keeps forgetting to flip that switch back. aside from that (my own forgetfulness) it’s a great dust shoe. Do you have any problems with the brush gradually sliding out during jobs?
It is a great shoe design, but I’ve since switched to a Suckit as I was having issues of lost steps/belt slippage due to brush fouling on deep plunges (it’s the only thing I changed that solved the issue). I still have it and believe there are cases where I might want to use it over a fixed design. Can’t say I ever had a brush slip out, and I often removed it during tool changes so it got a lot of use/abuse.

I have one (EV)as a backup for when I forget that I can’t use high profile hold downs with the suckit and crash into them, breaking the plexi legs .
, DOH!
Ouch!!!
I’ve “almost” done that several times, except luckily I saw it coming and hit the kill switch in time, or soon enough after contact was made that nothing broke. I did drag a 1/4" bit across a really nice piece of maple once though, and that hurt even more (I hate wasting nice trees). I won’t always be so lucky I’m afraid, haha!!!
