Stepper motor question

Hello all,
I just have a question about the stepper motors on my XXL. I know than when the power is off the pulleys can move freely and when the power is on the are locked. On mine, the left side y axis motor is able to move. Is that normal or does the motor need to be replaced?

Most likely the problem is that the pulley is not secure on the shaft — check the pulley set screws and put a “witness mark” on the pulley/shaft ends.

If that’s not it, it could be an electrical issue w/ a connector or a wiring extension — and it might be that that has damaged the stepper driver.

If nothing is obviously wrong mechanically, power down, swap the two Y-axis motor connectors (if you have an SO3) and then power up — does the problem swap sides? Power down and swap back.

That was it! A lose set screw on the pully.
Thank you!
