All was working fine using a thumb drive to transfer files to CM. Yesterday I noticed that Windows was Fixing the thumb drive or something to that effect, then for some reason when trying to load a file, a CM popup states “can’t load c2d file”.
today trying to find a work around I was able to copy file from Thumb drive to hard drive of laptop and loaded it fine. This has always worked in the past with no issues.
It’s not forcing it, it’s just that a removable drive is subject to being removed — I’ve found it better/more reliable to put things on a local drive instead.
Thumb drives that your operating system is “FIXING” is likely not long for this world. A USB stick is non volatile memory. So over time little sections of the memory chips can go bad and that corrupts the file system that Windows uses to read the files.
USB Drives are relatively cheap these days so if I were you I would copy off all files on that USB drive before they are lost forever.
Once you get our information off the old USB drive smash it with a hammer. Your data will be unusable and you will not put that bad drive in a drawer, forget it was bad, and start using it again with bad consequences.
