I was running a 1 hour + project today and in the middle of the run time the spindle stopped and I got the “Not Connected” page. I was about 45 minutes into the run. No indication as to why. Any thoughts?
- Static electricity. Colder weather leads to lower humidity
- Loose USB cable. Cables and sockets can wear out over time.
- Material. Plastics are really bad for generating static.
All what @mhotchin said plus if you have a C3D/Makita router the brushes get short and cause noise that can lead to disconnects. The brushes in the C3D/Makita have a short wire and when the brushes get about half used up the wire keeps the brush from making good contact and starts making noise. So pull your brushes and if they seem about half worn out replace them to see if it helps.
I think you nailed it…it’s the static electricity…once you mentioned I recall this happened before when the weather turned and the humidity fell. When this happens is there a way to restart at a step close to where it stopped?
Yes, that was added as a feature recently:
Build 642
New
First pass at program restart.
Just make note of/estimate the last line sent and re-start there.
In my case CM stopped abruptly and went to “Not Connected” page. Is there any way to determine what step it stopped?
Unfortunately not. It’s a missing piece of the puzzle that makes the program restart very much less useful.
Feature Request:
I had a sudden stop also on a project. “Not Connected” I purchased a new lap top (Apple). and purchased a new usb - usb c adapter . I unplugged and plugged back in and the spindle reconnected. I suspected the adapter was faulty. but if others are having this problem maybe it’s a software issue. Just thinking out loud.
