Well, that seems to have fixed it. I still don’t know what I was doing wrong. Aside from wanting to get the stars at an angle (similar to v-carve) it’s just about where I want it! Thx Tod! the first rough pass is about 145 minutes.
Angle shouldn’t make much difference in time. Cutting longways means fewer retracts/rapids, so it’s a little faster.
Time is Distance / Feedrate.
Distance is affected by stepover, and in rough 3D (and 2D) by depth of cut, which affects the number of layers cut.
So compare Feedrate, Stepover, and Depth of cut in your operations to mine.
The biggest difference might be that on the 1/16 ball operation, I only cut the areas that needed to be carved lower than the wave. i.e. the stars and the cutout portions of the logo.
