SVG Toolpath Issues

Hey everyone!

I’m new to the shapeoko community, and had an issue today that I couldn’t seem to figure out.
I imported a pretty simple SVG to cut out: A simple L shaped fence for my threaded spoilboard.

When it cut I noticed that it treated each line segment as a unique path, and cut each side of the part to full depth before proceeding to the next, rather than making a single patch around the part.
I tried grouping the geometry in CC, but the toolpath simulation still shows the same issue.
The part turned out fine but is really inefficient and may pose issues to other geometries in the future.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Cheers,
Spence

How did you create the original SVG?

I created it as a sketch in Catia V5

I’m not familiar with Catia, but is there a way to “combine” paths?
Does it show as separate paths in Catia?

The entire geometry is in one sketch, outline, holes, pockets, etc.
I’ll try breaking it into different sketches to see if that helps, but I would imagine the conversion to SVG would be the same.

Can you share your SVG here?

I can’t seem to upload the SVG, but here’s a screenshot

does your imported SVG show up in purple color maybe ?

If so, select everything and try Edit / Join Vectors ?

Else, please ignore this post

The SVG should upload. It might be hard to see, though.

Join vectors was the ticket!
Thanks so much!

Did you delete the previous toolpaths and then recreate a new tool path(s) with the changes you made to the svg file?

Yes I recreated all the tool paths I had with the new vectors
