.svg vs .svg Brain flatus

I am trying to make a “Sea of Holes” trivet. I used Inkscape to convert to bitmap and deleted the original and saved as an .svg from Inkscape. I’ve saved as “plain .svg” and as an “Inkcape .svg” and I cannot get either one to load into CC. I leave it to your superior brains to get me out of this warren of confusion.!

You seem to have deleted too much. The file is empty:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<svg xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:cc="http://creativecommons.org/ns#" xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#" xmlns:svg="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" viewBox="0 0 1728 1465.28" height="1465.28" width="1728" id="svg10" version="1.1">

<defs id="defs14"/>

</svg>

“Well, that seems to be your problem there, sir…”
Okay, thanks @WillAdams. Odd that I can pull up the file and view it. I will delete the files and restart. Thank-you for helping an Old Fart who sometimes takes a bit longer to get a grip on this stuff.

Edit: Total failure.

Now, I cannot even upload the .svg file to here. Time to crawl into bed, go to sleep and attack tomorrow with fresh eyes and brain.

Not sure of your problem but I have never been able to convert in Inkscape to “Plain SVG” and get it to open in CC. I have tried the other SVG format with no success either. (Cant remember the SVG type but I think it is Inkscape SVG).

I’ve had no problem opening Inkscape created SVG’s in Carbide Create. Just be sure you’re following the correct order:

Open your image in Inkscape – select it
Click Path – Trace Bitmap – this will open a Trace Bitmap window
Click ‘Update’ to be sure image looks OK – then click OK and close window
You will now have 2 images - the top one is the traced image, move that one aside, select the bottom one and delete
Be sure your new image is selected – click File – Save As - Choose type as Plain SVG – hit Save

You will now have an SVG file that “should” open just fine in Carbide Create
