I’ve been learning how to use my cnc to produce a miniature version of my rocking chair. I make a full-size adult rocker with all interlocking pieces (50+). This chair is cut out of 3/16" poplar. I’ve still got a few more adjustment to make before bring this to market.
I am giving a scroll saw presentation at my woodworking club tomorrow. This week I cut out a rocking man. I jokingly call it a self portrait. I got the pattern from Steve Good’s website.
The man sits on a platform and rocks for more than 3 minutes.
Awesome project. Do you find the small rocker harder than the full size ones ?
What wood type is that ? The detail is really good.
Thanks James, I haven’t made the full size one on the cnc yet put hope too at some point. The biggest difference is the smaller one is a little more difficult to put together due the small pieces. I’m making these out of poplar. I was concern that the poplar would be too soft to handle the small joints. But so far this doesn’t appear to be a problem.
Nice work being full 3D! It reminds me of some of the full sized Plywood cut outs of a man smoking his pipe and kind of bent over.
I don’t know where you are located, however, I could see you selling many of these down in Kentucky!
