Texas Shapeoko Users

Howdy! I’m a new Shapeoko 4 XXL owner in Central Texas. I am brand new to the world of CNC, but passionate about learning. I am interested in finding other folks in the region who might be interested in occasional meetups, demos, and knowledge sharing.

I’ve found a few CNC classes around the area, but nothing Shapeoko/Carbide specific. Thought I’d jump on here to see who might be around.

Thanks!

Backatcha, Jade. We’re here on the forum, but seeing as how Texas is so big, we’re still 4 or 5 hours away from everything.

Where are you located in central Texas? Abilene, Lubbock, San Angelo, Waco or ???

What are you interested in doing with your “CNC” router?

There are two views on that — the folks I knew in San Angelo when I was stationed at Goodfellow AFB, who when asked, “Why doesn’t San Angelo have a zoo?” would respond, “There’s one in San Antonio — you can get there and back in a day.” and the foreign exchange officers who would arrive having purchased 30-day Greyhound Bus Passes, expecting to “See America on the weekends.” and to whom one had to explain, “If you get on a bus at 5PM Friday after class, you’ll reach the edge of Texas in time to turn around and come back for classes 8AM Monday.”

Funny-- my office is across the street from that zoo
When I went to graduate school in California, I drove out from Austin, leaving a 9 pm driving through the night passed through El Paso around 6 am

So Jade, where in Central Texas are you?

I’m at the San Antonio end of central Texas.
The fellow that my brother bought his used 5 Pro from, is on northside of San Antonio and had some interest in getting a CNC group together. So I assume there are others as well.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

I am in Bastrop but would be willing to travel within a reasonable distance on occasion to meet up with other folks in-person. What about others? Anyone interested in a rotating meet up?

Well, Jade, are you thinking about maybe forming a “club”?

Not trying to be too presuming, but Guy @gdon_2003 is part of a well-established club that is in Nacogdoches. That’s not too far away (in Texas miles. )

Nacogdoches and Bastrop were both formally established in 1837! Can’t beat that!
