I have to wonder if the screw drive on the Pro 5 would solve this
Welcome Aboard,
Define funky please. Are you talking about letter spacing?
Jeff
No, the “O” mainly. It’s not round as in the software.
Since I loaded v8 it never seems as nice in Vcarve .
If the belts were loose enough to cause distortion, it would be readily apparent. Also check the set-screws on the pulleys - two screws, both tight, one over the flat of the motor shaft.
You can draw across the end of the pulley and shaft with a marker, a ‘witness mark’. If the pulley is loose, you’ll be able to see the mis-match of the lines.
Now I see it I have a pro 5 and am using v8 and have not had any problems like that, never used Vcarve so I can’t speak to that. Check the font some times they look like that on purpose in the wester type fonts.
One concern is that the Z-axis height/zero can affect appearance somewhat, the other concern is whether or no the effect angle of the V tool when cutting matches the definition in software.
For checking the motion system on any machine the big thing to do is to power up, move to the center of motion for each axis, chuck up a probing pin, then try shifting in all directions — things should be absolutely steady, but if not, any direction/distance of shift should be investigated and addressed.
All screws are tight. The only thing that is suspect is the stepper motor on the left side allows slack motion 3/32” in movement.
The one on the right does not.
I don’t see anything to adjust that. The motor is letting the shaft turn. This with machine on.
Sounds like a wiring problem. I think you should contact Support, they have a trouble-shooting list that will help narrow down the problem.
Left motor not spinning at all,
Thanks!
