My cousin and her husband thought they would like a camping trailer. I suggested to them that renting one would get them in and see if they liked it. They live in a suburban neighborhood where they would have to store the camper somewhere else. The total cost of ownership is quite high. So I suggest to you the same thing. Rent one and see if you like it and then compare the total cost of ownership to just occasionally renting one. After they rented one for 2 weeks they decided it was not for them.

I would probably go for a permanent ice shack where I know i’d use it, and get the camper amenities added - ive seen it done before, and people just use the ice shack as a camper during the couple times in the summer month they use it

yes but it has to be lower to the ice, so you dont get wind up in the thing.
Then a day on the lake catching fish is perfect
