I’m a little overwhelmed by the amount of different tint/colorant’s that can be added to epoxy resin (in other words, Im lost on Amazon), so I was hoping someone could send me some Amazon links to tint/colorant recommendations based on personal use. (Shipping to Chicago)
My key need today is gold, but am happy for suggestions on a multipack with 8+ colors, as right now I have nothing. I think I want metallic, but am happy to be pointed a different way.
Also, normally I notice that people use metallic tints when doing large pours. Will it look ok for small pour areas as well?
I bought a set of Alumilite Dyes. Mainly because they thoroughly explain what colors will go with what chemistries that they sell, and I don’t have to roll the dice and hope that everything is compatible.
I use TransTint liquid dye. It is alcohol based and mixes well. Powder colorants need to be mixed very very well. With slow dry epoxy that is possible but with quicker drying epoxy stick with liquid colorants.
When adding coloring mix and mix well, cannot over emphasize to mix well.
Seal your wood or you will get air bubbles coming out of the wood. I use dewaxed shellac to seal (zinser universal sanding sealer). I also use a heat gun to help get bubbles out of the epoxy you stirred in by mixing well. With slow set epoxy come back every 10 minutes and blow hot air until you get no more bubbles.
