I have been having a lot of fun with my SP5 4x2. I have the spindle and that is fantastic. I have been zeroing my maching manually and see the benefit of a BitZero but I am trying to decide if I should pull the trigger on that or get something else.
I see the potential to start using something other than CM to control the CNC and if that is the case then I wonder if the BitZero is the right choice or if I should consider a vendor neutral option instead. Looking for opinions from folks more experienced than I am. For instance does CM work with other probing options?
I have a BitZero for my S3 and am running a Duet 3 6HC controller. It works great with it. As far as I remember there is a 5V line, a GND line, and a signal line. If I recall correctly the signal line is pulled low when the bit touches the metal plate. Very standard and very easy to interface with.
If I am not mistaken the BitZero for the S5 is electrically the same as the one for the S3/S4 but has a different connector. I believe the front panel of the S5 uses 24V from the Warthog, but converts that down to 5V for the BitZero and BitSetter ports. You would want to confirm that with C3D before messing with it though.
