Tool change dialog sometimes pauses job

With BitSetter enabled, I start a new job and the machine asks for the first tool. If I use the keyboard (enter key) to dismiss the tool change dialog as soon as it appears, the job is paused.

If there’s any kind of delay, the job continues without intervention.

I’ve seen random pauses on my machines when it is moving around preparing to cut — it seems to be related to other traffic on the USB sub-system, or possibly network traffic or the computer downloading updates.

I just use it as yet another chance to look things over and make sure all is well, and if not, to hit pause or the e-stop if need be.

Same here. And it didn’t seem to matter if I use the Enter key or mouse click, only that it was done quickly. Now I wait until the yellow Stop button highlights before sending it.

I often do repetitive jobs; Place a new piece to cut, cut it, put a new piece in and repeat. Every once in a while it will pause and I have to hit Start a second time. Can’t see any rhyme or reason…

This happened to me all the time when I was using Carbide Motion on my first tool in a job. I always preloaded it so I had to wait a second before clicking the button. It has to do with how the software is written. My guess is that it is either on purpose to prevent accidental continuing or it is a race condition that is dependent on some sort of status update from GRBL. It has been this way for a very long time.

I haven’t seen any random pauses - this particular behavior seems 100% reproducible.
