I thought there used to be two libraries for tools…one in inches and another in mm. What happened to the mm library? Everything is in inches only now.
I can’t recall this duplication (I suspect if we did it, folks would be confused by it).
You can pretty easily do it yourself — just duplicate a library, then go to About and use the “Open Data Directory” button to access the underlying .csv file — edit it w/ a spreadsheet to change the units used to mm (there’s a column which indicates measurements used) and then re-save as a .csv
To avoid confusion, the column is named “metric”. Default is 0 (english). I assume a change to 1 makes it a metric tool.
I tried that. All it does is make the “labels” amd units metric. It doesn’t change the actual data over to metric.
Just changes 1/8 to .125 mm which isn’t correct.
I’ll just have to redo database manually. I prefer metric feed rates as much simpler
What I meant by "edit’ was that you would put in the math operations to convert from Imperial to mm — multiply everything by 25.4
Yes, the data in the row in the table should match the english(0) or metric(1) value in the “metric” column.
It won’t convert the data. It just means, “I entered these values in these units”.
I am an American who has spent the last 20 years as an Engineer working entirely in metric. I have a hard time thinking in Imperial units and was constantly complaining that CC had no means to switch to metric. As soon as I read this post I immediately I followed @WillAdams’s instructions for the Shapeoko / Hardwood library and figured it would be nice to share.
Metric Carbide 3D+Shapeoko+Hardwood.csv.nc (3.8 KB)
You will need to remove the .nc from the file name and put it in the CC tools directory under the data directory.
