New to Fusion and learning how to setup for Shapeoko. I’ve run into an issue, which I’m guessing is a really silly thing that I’m missing. When I run the simulation you can see that the entire tool is starting underneath the model. Seems like no matter what setting I look at, the entire tool slides underneath the part, comes through the model, and then gets to work. No surprise, I get collisions.
The only way I’ve been able to make some changes is by moving the part position settings in the setup. If I lower the Z Distance really far down, the tool will start above the model and continue on as expected. If I set the Part Attach Point to Stock Box Point, the top of the shaft comes into the part flush, instead, which is still a problem.
My WCS orientation is Z Axis/Plane & X Axis, with the orgin set to Stock Box Point set to the top left corner of the model.
Been looking at the forum and youtube, but haven’t found the right answer yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Thank you for the tips. I checked out those settings, and am starting to think it’s a graphics/render issue. Through a series of attempts I found that if I changed the Tool Orientation for one tool path, then regenerated the tool path, the tool would magically be above the stock in the simulation 1 time. After that, the next time I ran a simulation it would be underneath again.
I got brave and ran it on the Shapeoko, even though it showed the tool sliding underneath and coming up through the model. I had not issues with the job, so I’m feeling like it’s more of a simulation problem than anything.
You can use ncviewer or a NoteP++ add in as a separate reality check,
I open my .nc files in ncviewer as part of my cut start up process.
It’s saved me from myself too many times.
