Touch Probe Z axis Issue, (tension, screws, wheels, springs are ok)

Hello!
Im attempting to cut a part out of my half inch material but for some reason I cannot cut all the way through.
Ive double checked stock thickness, as well as my toolpaths, and of course proper placement of probe so that the lip is hugging the outside of my stock and it is sitting flat.
Whats weird is it wont cut all the way through when I use my probe unless I manually re zero my Z axis with the paper method. As Im moving my z axis manually from the retracted height (31) the coordinates will be near perfect zero as it sits at my stock height.
Im assuming this would narrow it down to a probe or calibration issue and not the typical spring, belt tension, z axis wheel screw fixes…

Ive ran a few tests cutting cubes and when I only use the touch probe, the z depth will be too short.
When I use the probe and then manually zero for Z it will cut the correct depth.

Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated!

are you probing XYZ ? just checking…

Yup all 3. Ive checked tried different materials and toolpaths too and its usually ~2-3 mills shy.

the probe lip is 3mm high, so not a coincidence ? But if I read you correctly, you do sit the probe with the recessed part against the top of the material, then probe XYZ (not just Z), and still get this offset ?
EDIT: and if you do probe Z only, with the probe sat on its lip on top of the material (not on the recessed part), then manually jog to the surface, do you end up at Z=0 or do you also see an offset ?

As Julien is saying, when you do the XYZ combination zero (automatically sets all three to zero) you “hook” the bottom lip OVER the corner of you part.

Differently, when you probe for Z ONLY, you place the probe block out onto the top of your part where the block sits flat ON TOP OF the bottom lip.

interesting, didnt even realize it was 3mm but thats correct. Full XYZ probe with probe over corner laying flat on recessed portion and Ill get the offset after i run code.
I just tried probing for strictly Z now (probe hook sitting on stock top) and then manually jogged back down to stock height and there was no offset there either it was Z=0…

yup, thats the strange thing I’m probing correctly…

Did you try the same test when probing XYZ?
