Turning off 5pro

Is there a proper way to shut down the shapeoko5pro and 65 mm spindle control unit?
I am new to the shapeoko CNC experience. I noticed if I turned lights off in room device does shut down. I am concerned about longevity of this equipment. Thanks for your input in advance.

Does the light switch you use also control the outlet your S5Pro is plugged into?

I normally shutdown the CNC with the control box power switch and the spindle with the VFD power switch for long periods of time, if just over night I just use the E-stop after the last cut is complete and the machine is stationary. I do not leave the machine powered on for long in between cuts either. I read somewhere its not good for the stepper motors, I could be wrong though.

I normally turn it off at the controller box. If I’m going to be idle for awhile (a few days or more) I’ll disconnect from the outlet.

Thank You for your response. I just checked the outlet power with my dust collection and the light switch turned that off.
I had a few program files which ran for long period of time so I turned lights off and stopped program when returned to room disappointed that my shapeoko 5 pro program stopped. Will power up from a different circuit (Outlet).
