Updating Grbl 0.9 on CarbideMotion v2.4d controller

I have owned a Shapeoko 3xxl since 2018. Haven’t used it in quite a while and now there is an urgent need to reenergize it. My older Carbide Motion software that used to run the machine is not available any longer, and it seems that the newer ones don’t run with GRBL 0.9. Would any one have any advice whether to upgrade GRBL to 1.1 or revert to an older CM software version.

so you could download and run CM3 as the machine is, but might need:

If you have homing switches, then updating should work, see:

Shapeoko 3 0.9 to 1.1f

This should be the correct GRBL build: https://carbide3d.com/files/grbl11/grbl11e20161219.hex For what it’s worth, we haven’t shipped a machine with GRBL 0.9 since around 2016. It’s pretty rare for us to upgrade machines that old these days, and honestly, our team doesn’t have much experience with the process anymore. Because of that, we’ve had to stop providing support for it.

Hi Folks, For those interested, this is how I upgraded from GRBL version 1.1f to 1.1h. I am not sure there is any real need to do this, but the machine can always be flashed back to normal with the Carbide software or with the process I used. You could use this process to add your own functionality to GRBL if you wish, but that’s another thing entirely.
