I have a Nomad Pro from 2015, 400 SN series. It has .9 GRBL and is running on a 12+ year old Win 10 laptop.
Motion is Build 364
Create is Build 431
I have Create and G-code files I would like to keep and update moving to a newer machine.
I have tried moving the program over to a 5 YO LT running Win 10 but the Motion hangs up when trying to run the old G-Code files.
What’s my steps to get up to date without losing integrity of my create files I can get G-code from?
Ideally you would update Carbide Create from v4 to a version which will open said files and re-save them so that they can be opened in v7 and re-saved so that a current version will open them — we have v7 at:
If you need some intermediate version, let us know at support and we’ll try to dig it out.
You’ll need to update to Grbl 1.1 so as to be able to run a current version of Carbide Motion, but the updater hasn’t been available for a while — some folks have managed to compile Grbl w/ the Carbide 3D defaults as described in the header files and re-flash thus on a Shapeoko — there are some specific values for a Nomad, so that may be a bit more complex — please check in w/ the folks at support before trying that route.
The official recommendation for Shapekos is to buy a new controller — not sure if that’s the case for a Nomad (the controller isn’t as easy to get to).
