Upgraded Shapeoko XXL T-Track

I wanted to share a quick and easy upgrade to my existing Shapeoko XXL T-Track. The existing one with 4 tracks works well, but I could never seem to get the clamps exactly where I wanted them and the spacing is not ideal for cutting smaller parts. The design is inspired by the Shaeoko Pro XXL that has 9 T-Slots.

I ordered four 48" T-Track extrusions from Orange Aluminum that match the dimensions of the extrusions on the existing track - with shipping it was just under $60. I had to cut them down to the 39" bed depth with a hack saw, but the screw hole spacing still matched the stock Carbide3D T-Track extrusions. The extra screws for the track and MDF sections cost around $16 all together. BTW I had found the extrusions from another post on this forum, but I can’t remember which thread.

I used the existing MDF parts and cut them down to 3.875" width, preserving the existing screw holes. I flipped them over to use the “clean” side" and mirrored the screw holes from the other sides, then pre-drilled everything with a countersink bit. I did have to use one additional piece of .75" thick MDF to fill in the last section. I also left the width of the two end pieces at the original 4.5" dimension.

Works great, well worth the investment of ~$76 and a few hours!
