I live in East Texas. We dont get a lot of bitter cold and/or ice/snow. This last few days has been quite cold for us and had some freezing rain and snow. To northern standards were not that bad but for Texas standards brrrrrrrrr.
The upside is running on generator power I could not do a lot so I started cleaning out my scrap piles. I burned up a bunch of useless little pieces of plywood. Next is my solid wood which has accumulated.
For the last few months I have been going through things and organizing things better. I have been giving away things I have not used in 10 years and trashing other things. Slowly but surely I am getting better organized. What started this is I almost tripped in the shop on all the things piled up. If you live long enough you accululate way too much stuff. I also went through my clothes and donated a bunch of stuff to a homeless mission in Nacogdoches Tx. It feels good to get so much unloaded and out of my way.
This is a picture of my driveway. A bunch of 3-4 inch pine trees had leaned over on my power lines. The light company came through and moved them off the power lines. I was going to cut them down but had nothing tall enough to get up and cut the tops. I was afraid if I cut them at the base they would take my power lines down.
Unfortunately while warming up my truck the windshield cracked along the bottom above the defroster vents. Need to find out if insurance will cover and/or what the deductible will be. The worst is over and everything is melting. The lights came back on yesterday after 3 days. I was praying my generator would not fail. It worked like a champ. I know there were a lot of others that had it much worse. Some people are still suffering through this cold snap. So much for global warming ![]()
