Will USB-C to USB-A adapter work with the 5PRO shipped connection cord?
I know this sounds silly but sometimes small things matter for functionality.

Yes, these work.
on support it’s noted that the Apple adapter works well, and I had good luck with an Insignia adapter (Best Buy house brand) as well as a no-name adapter from Amazon (whatever the best rated option was at the time I ordered) until I broke it by dropping the computer it was plugged into.
A “proper” USB-B–C cable might be better — if you can find one with ferrite beads/which is shielded/has good quality connectors at each end.
However, if you have a choice note that USB-2 ports have in some tech support cases worked better for a more reliable connection than USB-3.

I have not purchased one yet, just wanted to make sure due to the 2024 MacMini no longer has USB-A connections.
Well, I did not know about the USB-C connections having issues either? Now I’m wondering if I should just get the 2023 MacMini?

For others that might be wondering why the MacMini vs laptop is I have several LCD TV’s that are gathering dust and wantted to utilize one of them. This also gets the PC under the table somewhat more protected from dust and me banging into it in the shop.
As I noted, the Apple adapter is known to work reliably, and is recommended by support — don’t get the older device just for the sake of a USB-A port — half the computers I use with my machines use various adapters.
