Using cut rocket and carbide create

I am trying to take a project from Cut Rocket, open it in Create and put it onto a SD card to use on our Fox Alien 4040xe.
For the 4040xe, using the controller, the file on the SD card needs to be a .nc file type. I do not know how to do tha t in Create.
Ideally I would like to use one program for the whole operation, but looks like that is not possible.
Any help?

AFAIK you’ll need carbide create pro to export a .nc file.

  • CC V6 can save .NC files.
  • CC V7 stores the GCode in the C2D file. You can extract it to a .NC file
    • using Carbide Motion connected to a Shapeoko machine (this option doesn’t apply to you), OR
    • using the web page above, OR
    • by using CC Pro instead of CC free version.

For more on this, including a link to CC v6 see:

We do have CC Pro 7. We tried to open a Cut Rocket project in it, took the tool paths listed and one by one saved them as a .nc file. Took the SD card and set the controller for control. Set the 4040xe to run the toolpath. The router started moving laterally. No up or down. And only ran for 5 seconds or so, even though the toolpath was estimated for 2 minutes.
So we got a little farther, but still failed.
