V carve cuts twice?

Hey Guys,
Just curious when running a vcarve program is it supposed to cut the paths twice? (cleanup?)
The first pass looks great, but then it wants to go and do it again this time it looks like it is just cleaning it up, but on the more detailed letters it sort of messes it up. Not sure if this is normal or not, some of the other programs only went once.

How many passes are taken are a function of how deeply it must cut and what the depth per pass is set to.

For example, if you are using a 60 degree endmill and have depth per pass set to 1/8", and you are cutting a 1/4" wide feature which requires plunging to 1/4" depth, the machine will make 2 passes.
