Vacuum - flex hose off sweepy

I have a spoiled new set-up with an S5 4X4 and i was curious on anyones thoughts of the best flex hose off of the sweepy. Thank you.

I have an SO3 with HDZ so it is not an SO5. However I made a custom mount to go above my router to hold a straight pipe that attaches to a flexible hose. The flexible hose if up high enough so it never gets caught on anything on the full motion of my machine. Also I have what I call the diving board where a 4" hose adapts to a 2.5" hose above do my dust collection hose is in the middle of my spoilboard. Maybe you can make something similar.

Super handy work there.

I was also thinking about some sort of elasticized non colapsing tubing. Almost like an interior hose with a bungee style exterior ‘sock’ allowing the free movement with little resistance but yet still collapse. Does that make sence?

Peachtree makes a very flexible 2.5" dc hose and is anti-static.

Here’s what I bought a couple of years ago. It has worked fine, but I haven’t had the need for an anti-static connection. The hose has the parts to make that connection.

clear hose wraps around a black carbon steel wire helix

I just use the 2.5" anti-static/static-dissipative hose which I use to connect to the vacuum/cyclone — it runs up to the ceiling where it hangs from bungie cords.

Thanks you for the brand. Ill checknit out for sure

Thank you for the link. Ill go shopping today : )
All these great ideas, most likely i will end u with a combination of everything ive heard. I really appreciate the time and thoughts.

I originally had my hose mounted lower and used some bungee like string to try and keep it up out of the way of the gantry but it seemed like it was always getting kinked so I switched to this Frankenstein mess. It works really well, but I do plan to switch to a 4” blast gate mounted up near the main pipe and have that controlled by my iVac system. Then I can ditch the lower blast gate and clean things up at the router. This hose is flexible enough that I don’t have any issues. Looks like the same proposed by @CrookedWoodTex but shorter length.

Thats a very tidy looking vacuum set-up. Well done. Silly as it sounds im excited to do the vac project on mine. Thank yoi.

Thanks. I call it Frankenstein because there are three adapters plus’s a blast gate. Between the sweepy and the hose. Hopefully I can clean that up.

I “MacGyver’d” the crap out of mine. Until I get a more permanent solution…
The hose on my shop vac wasn’t long enough, so I hung it from a ceiling rack next to the machine.
Pool noodle & duct tape for an adapter. I use the mist nozzle wrapped around the hose to stabilize it.
It works really well, except on deeper cuts I have to keep pausing & moving the sweepy up. It works best when the brush is no more than 1/2" away from the surface.
I may modify it so the sweepy is mounted to the X axis rather than the spindle, then I could set it to the surface height & it will stay there.

Thats great!!
Glad it works well for you. Theres always tidying up to do haha details always take the longest

I love the levitating shop vac.

Yeah, sometimes I have the sweepy mount barely hanging on and other times I am afraid I am going to bottom out the plastic if I don’t pause and readjust. When cutting HDPE recently it seemed that it the bristles weren’t touching the surface then the chips would find a way out.
