VCarve after a pocket pass

I want to engrave some text into a tray. I have a total of 4 tool paths. 1. Actual bowl cut which is set to max depth of 0.700in as my stock is .83 inch. 2. Contour cut to create the wall from the actual cut out. 3.the actual cut out of the tray.

I’d like to add text to the bottom of the bowl. What should I do to tell it to engrave the text after the bowl path is done. Do I need to change the depth on the VCarve pathway?

Should I save the Pocket tool path and VCarve together? or each one separate?

How will it know to start at the bottle of the bowl?

Cut pocket first:

Then Cut the text, starting at the bottom of the pocket:

@WillAdams Thank you for the prompt reply.

I’m getting the error “Max Depth must be greater than Start Depth”

The bowl pocket path is set to 0.7000in Max Depth. As i don’t want it to cut through the 0.8300 stock.

So then I should set the VCarve start depth at 0.7000in and what should max depth be, so it doesn’t go through?

Set the max depth to the stock thickness or slightly less.

Roger that. I’ll give it a try. Should I save each file separately? Or can I run those two together?

If you have a BitSetter you can save all the toolpaths in one file.

If you don’t, you will need to output a separate file for each tool:
