Vcarve + Carbide file & Gcode?

Good morning,

I’m considering buying Vcarve from vectric. I’m quite new and my workflow today is : Create on my PC the toolpath with carbide, save the file and drop it on an usb stick, go to my garage and use my Macbook laptop to connect to the shapeoko 4 xxl to start the cut. If there is minor change to do I also do it with the carbide software on my Macbook.

My questions are, how will I do that with Vcarve ? I do not want to buy an other PC right now.
Can I export the format to run it with carbide motion ?
If yes, am I going to loose perfomance, errors ?

Something I’m not seeing that could be a simple resolve solutions ?

Thanks

It should work to:

  • run Vectric Vcarve on the PC
  • write out G-code from Vectric on the PC using a suitable post-processor
  • transfer the G-code file to the Mac running Carbide Motion
  • load the G-code file into Carbide Motion to get a wireframe preview
  • if the preview is okay, send to the machine

G-code is a self-sufficient text file, so it doesn’t matter which platform it is opened/viewed on/sent from.
