VCarving for Epoxy Fill

I do a lot of cursive letter engraving in hardwood, I like to go .200" deep for epoxy fill. I like to keep the letters around 1.00" and bold text using carbide create. I would like your opinions on the best font for the letters, I have 30, 60, and 90 degree vbits, and currently using the 30and 60 degree vbits. I have been using Lucinda Calligraphy but somes of the lines are so thin I only get around 0.060" deep in the carving. I am currently looking at Monotype Corsiva 1.00" bold. I haven’t looked outside of carbide create yet.

Carbide Create uses the fonts which are on your computer (in addition to some number of fonts which are bundled with it and only accessible in it).

This means that you can install any compatible font and then access it in Carbide Create. Another option is to use the About dialog’s “Open Data Directory” button and place fonts which you only wish to have available to Carbide Create in the fonts folder inside the Carbide Create folder.

Lucida Calligraphy by Bigelow & Holmes:

is available in a range of weights from Thin through Ultrabold — it might be that one of the heavier weights would work for your epoxy usage.

Here is a file of the weight names set in the matching font at 1" height and converted to outlines:

If your purchase one or more fonts (I’d suggest getting the entire set — gotta catch 'em all), please give my compliments to Prof. Bigelow and Ms. Holmes.

Thanks Will, I’ll check them out
