VDF Running at lower RPM

Hello,
Hooked up the 65mm VDF spindle and it has been working great. However the one thing I noticed was that the RPM is roughly 10% lower than it should.
I currently have the 60 degree vee bit in, preset is 18000rpm however the VDF is displaying 16530. Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

Since they’ve locked up the VFD, you could program it at 19600 to get 18000 ???

I was thinking the same thing. As long as it is the same percent everytime, should be able to do the math to get it to the right ones

The 10% speed reduction @Tod1d mentioned has been a know issue almost since the release of the VFD. I have a Jet 1642 lathe with VFD and Jet locks that VFD as well. The password is floating around the internet but a VFD has hundreds of parameters that some can really get you into trouble. That is why OEM locks VFD because people go in and tinker with things they dont know anything about. @Tod1d suggestion is a good one about just increasing the speed 10% and you dont have to worry. However a 10% reduction is likely negligible in the grand scheme of things.

Depending on the software you use there are other options that allow for more fine tuned corrections, as it’s usually not a certain percentage across the board that’s helpful.

As an example I work in Fusion 360 and am using an altered post processor (can’t remember where I found it but google should point you to it), the post processor allows for different corrections depending on RPM. Pic attached, for reference these are the corrections I use on a 2.2kw spindle. The typed in speeds are the ones sent to the the controller to accomplish the desired speeds, you can see the change shifts along the RPM spectrum.

you will never notice the difference. rigidity is more important
