I was considering replacing the Makita in my SO5 Pro with a spindle and started poking around and ran across a 220V 2.2kW Vevor air cooled CNC spindle motor with an ER20 collet (24000 RPM, 400 Hz) for $125. The 65mm spindles I was looking at were a lot more than that, so this seems… crazy. Anyone tried one? I saw some earlier posts about a water-cooled 2.2kW 80mm Vevor, but nothing on this air-cooled one… It does clock in at 6 kg, however. I saw some concerns expressed in one thread about the weight, so wondering if anyone has any idea of the weight of the SO 80mm spindle for comparison?

I recently replaced the VFD for my 1.5kW spindle motor with one from Vevor and I have to say it is surprisingly good for the money (paid less than $50 for it) . External control from the C3D controller board also work without any issues so no complaints from me.
I wasn’t as lucky with my import VFD.
It works as expected but there is absolutely zero electrical noise isolation.
I thought my digital calipers had broken because they would intermittently freak out. I eventually realized that only happened when the VFD was on ![]()
I was probably 6 feet away when that was happening so the interference was pretty absurd.
