Hey! Getting my S5 Pro up and running and just had a question about the VFD spindle. I didn’t see anything in the manual about plugging in the VFD spindle and wasn’t even able to find a manual on the VFD spindle. I found a random adapter cable though that looks to fit (since mating ends by themselves are the same gender) but want to make sure it’s correct as it does change the order of the pin out. I posted a picture below of what I did. Just want clarification that it is right.
The VFD manual can be found here:
Thanks. These manuals should all be updated as well. It is no information about connecting to the S5 Pro, and not updated for the new version of carbide motion which changes the GUI a ton.
Ok so I get the bright red light on my spindle control box but it doesn’t respond to spindle commands through MDI. I measured the voltage on the S5 control box and 24V is coming from the red and green lines on my picture. This seems weird to me since not on the red and black lines. Is this an issue? Is there anything else I should check?
Everything was working on my old machine. Just moved my spindle from an s4 to the s5 and can’t get it to work now.
Also, just checked and can jog the spindle through the VFD control box itself and see the bit rotate, so that all works good. Just can’t get carbide motion to control it.
Have you reached out to official support and set up a call? Direct support in this case would be very helpful instead of waiting on the forums.
Just have to ask the obvious, the power to the VFD is turned on right? Button can illuminate even if it’s not.
also they can’t be plugged into a gfci circuit. That one bit me when I first got my spindle
