Vice suggestions for SP5

I am starting to look around for a vice. Any suggestions ?

I found this link from a few years ago.

Any updates ?

Thanks

What size stock are you looking to hold? There are some knock off 5 axis style self centering vises on amazon I use quite frequently. Inception machines also makes a really nice low profile vise with changeable jaws.

Honestly not sure what I want to do. I would like something to hold larger (longer) pieces and can bolt into the T-tracks.

This is the first foray into looking at Vices. I am not sure of the questions to ask myself.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check them out.

EDIT: The Inception low profile vice looks promising !

Sounds like you’re getting close to describing a Crush-It or Tiger-Claw type of toe clamp. ??

I have seen a clamp similar to a bar clamp but the bar fit in the T-track. I don’t see it online, maybe someone fabbed it up on their own.??

I have one of these that I rarely use anymore. It’s only practical if I’m doing a bunch of something small. Amazon.com: FoxAlien Mini Low Profile Bench Vise Workholding Clamp Work Table for FoxAlien 3018, Masuter 3, Masuter Pro, 3S, XE-PRO, WM-3020 Vasto CNC Router Machine : Tools & Home Improvement

I also have a machinist vise that I use for smaller aluminum parts.

So, the question would be, what do you plan to do with it? What type of jobs?

If you’re trying to do larger pieces, super glue and tape would work well. I use my S5 exclusively for aluminum parts and I use the super glue and tape work holding method 95% of the time. I only pull out the vise for small parts and jobs that need machining on both sides.

I use tape and CA glue mostly. I have the tiger claw knee clamps which just worked well for deep pine. And I am not sure what I would use it for. The thought popped into my head and off to the forum it went.

What geometry’s do you find it useful/efficient ?

I can see it for repetitive smaller parts ( which I avoid like the plague )

This maybe a solution looking for a problem !
