I have a 5Pro 4x4 machine and would like to know if anyone has experience/recommendation with Vice Workholding?
What material do you wish to secure? What size/shape is it?
There are entire books written on workholding/fixturing:
Thank you for your response. I primarily work with Wood so the Workholding does not necessarily have to be very stout.
I use the C3D low profile vise. It’s mounted on a piece of surfaced MDF with holes that let me secure it to the T tracks. Never had a problem with it holding wood, aluminum, or acrylic parts.
Thank you for the recommendation.
For side clamping I like the C3D Crush-Its.
Not cheap, but Saunder’s Machine Works has great workholding mod vises.
Traditional vises tend to be too tall for the space available under the gantry.
The height of the vices is definitely an issue. Man you were not kidding about the cost of the Saunder’s products. They do look very well built. One of those things that you buy once and use for ever, and brake down and cry if you crash the machine into them.
I have Saunders plates and vises on my HDM, and the HDM at work. They are awesome.
