Well nobody told me about this

Since biz in the entertainment industry here in Los angeles has been less than great these last few years i have found myself with way more time on my hands then i like, so i have been trying new things, bought a welder and learning that, got a 3D printer and having a blast with that, i want to redo the dash in my Cigarette boat and after doing some research decided that a cnc would be very useful, went down the rabbit hole of watching videos and decided on the Shapeoko 5

Very good experience so far., playing with different materials and trying new things. Had a big boating event in Havasu couple weeks ago so i made a buddy some edge lit signs out of acrylic for the event,

Well couple days ago i get a call from South Carolina. Guy says ive been trying to track you down
i saw the signs you did and i need one for my event. ok send me what you want and i’ll see what i can put together. send him the layout and he responds with omg i need 6 of those and where do i send the money, then he tells other people out there and they order more,

looks like i’m making some signs, never saw that coming.

What light source are you using with your signs?

Clicking on the link and entering your email then as for the download of the pdf. Says “good new, success” check your email in a few minutes. Did so about 15 min. ago, but no down load. Does it still work??

The link worked fine for me for me

I got them off of amazon Amazon.com: Homimor 2pcs 11.81 Inch Wooden LED Light Display Pedestal, Wooden Rectangle LED Lights Base for Acrylic, Crystal Light Stand for Crystal Display Glass Art : Home & Kitchen

I tried it twice with a yahoo account and still nothing.

Dan: The link to the download, or the download file? Did you get the download pdf file?

Thanks @H20-Toie. The guys in our Bass fishing group may be interested in this idea.

I just tried as well and nothing. Yahoo account.

Nice. I live 10 minutes from South Carolina. Maybe I can find a customer in Laguna Beach :grinning:

I don’t receive the email either. I tried twice

Should be possible to DIY. 23 bucks a lot for a slab and a LED-chain…

Anyone who doesn’t get this should contact support@carbide3d.com and we’ll work out how to get them the file.

For sure making a base is possible and it’s $23 for two not one.
also they do different colors and nice clean controller and plug into usb , ive been looking for someplace to source the strips with no luck,
i would like to do an aluminum base, so far the best option i have is to buy those wood ones. cut out the led strip and install in my own base , but still looking for other options

I get my LED strips from a local lamp / electric supply store, but Amazon has plenty of them, available in different colors and also in adjustable colors:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=led+strip+usb+powered&crid=13MHG7CIX7M6K&sprefix=led+strip+usb%2Caps%2C336&ref=nb_sb_ss_p13n-pd-dpltr-ranker_3_13

The same way the strips can be soldered to a new USB power cord. I did some projects that way, works well.

Those power USB cords are appr. $2.50 / piece:
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=led+strip+usb+powered&crid=13MHG7CIX7M6K&sprefix=led+strip+usb%2Caps%2C336&ref=nb_sb_ss_p13n-pd-dpltr-ranker_3_13
All together also not really cheap. I used always old USB-cables that I have boxes full of.

@Mary - See Will’s post.

For people looking for LED strips and a whole lot of other options to put in your own cases, try http://adafruit.com. Many choices, also many have well-documented projects on how to put things together. I have been buying from them for years.
