So, I’ve been fighting with the texture toolpaths on my most recent project…and losing. I feel like I make headway and then all of a sudden when I go to simulate, it shows blank areas. I also feel like I’ve been very successful in the past with this on other projects to date. Can anyone help point me in a right direction?

I’m very pleased with the texture. Looks awesome and exactly what I’m trying for. The problem is the edges, both along the top and bottom borders in this pic, and the edges of the text (top of the serif on the G, underneath the L and F.

Here you can really see the secondary problem. Unlike the previous issue, you can see the sides of the letters and the sides of the border are getting hit by the 1/4" ball.
This is the trial for the following sign (and I’ve not even tackled the tiling side of this project!) The Golf in the trial is the same as the Golf in the full sized sign.
I’m a person who hates giving up on trying to figure out how to do something, but this one is just getting to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah…I did offset vectors in the design for each texture toolpath, both the 1/4" bit and 1/2" bit. (This was one of those great lessons I learned from you at the outset of my texture toolpath journey.)
For some reason, it seems to be giving me a completely different result depending on the location of the job…sides: the 1/4" bit is hitting. Top and bottoms: there is an untouched space that isn’t getting carved at all.
Only on the ends. It cuts short of the boundary on the sides (top & bottom in this example)
This causes the ledges
Try messing with the stepover a little bit to see if you can get it to line up closer.
For the dimples in the ends, you are running a ball mill up to the same boundary used for the V-carve. You left a tapered wall, so the 1/4" tool is bumping the wall. The 1/2" tool is big enough to miss it.
Hey Gary, I just played with the dimensions of the 1/4 and 1/2 boundaries and by resizing them with the keep proportions box unchecked I was able to move the toolpaths far enough away to get to the uncut areas and stay far enough away from the sides so as to not hit them. I didn’t save the file because I don’t have time right now to dial it in.
