What is Program zero?

Periodically CM asks me if I want to use a current location as Program Zero. By that point I’ve double checked my X, Y, and Z and they’re all where I want them to be, so I tell it no. But, I’ve never bothered to find out exactly what it means.

I’ve already told the machine how close to the front and left I want it to be allowed to go, and that seems to work just fine.

Which would be why it didn’t like the fact that I had accidentally set zero to Center-Left instead of Lower-Left. It saved me!
