I’m waiting on my 5 pro and building a table. I need to build a shelf in the side for the VFD. Does anyone know the dimensions of the VFD?
I’m literally installing mine right now and took some quick measurements for you. Box is 10 1/4" tall, 6" wide (with cable coming out near bottom), 7" deep to include farthest part on front panel sticking out. And there is a recommended distance around all the sides for cooling but don’t remember it off the top of my head.
Oh and the cable from the box to the spindle for mine is 20’ long. The cable from the controller to the control box is only about 8’.

Something I was not expecting when I setup our 4x4 S5 Pro is that the drag chain for the spindle wires is almost 12 feet long. This meant that there was about 3" from the end of the drag chain to the end of the Carbide Compact Router’s power cord and I needed to get a extension cord. So factor that in when planning the placement of your VFD.

The VFD cable to the spindle is really long, seems much longer then what I saw in videos, etc from previously. For my 4x2, it went through all the drag chains, out the back, through my enclosure wall, back to the front of the enclosure from below, and has probably 4 feet of slack still. Going to take a look at actually putting it to the right side of the machine with the controller this weekend as it looks like there is plenty of spindle cable length.
