Who can spot the inlay issue?

About 1/2 way through making my inlay plug when I had a terrible realization.

Don’t worry you are not the first (me included), but I am sure that you will not repeat the mistake!

… but look at all the time you saved!

… and to the good … you now have the makings for a coaster!

Remove the rest of the material around the 42 and cut a walnut male/plug to go over it.

This kinda thing never happens to me. Well, maybe. . .

From my luthier days:

I’ve never done that. Definitely not three times, and certainly not last weekend.

Those are for the fire wood bin, not for posting

Luckily there was enough meat on the maple to mill it flat, flip the 42 plug and redo it. Ended up coming out as I had hoped. This was a practice run (thankfully). Now time to to do the real deal in the bottom of a cutting board.

Always good when you catch an issue and adjust before its too late  Although I’ve been more too late than I like to admit
