Why am I getting little corner chunks when pocketing?

I’m trying to cust some simple dados for shelves but I’m getting this little sliver left over, does this have to do with how the zero is being set? I’m setting in the top left and exactly in the center.

Because the “Area to machine” is set exactly to the size of the material, and the end mill is round. Make the area a little bigger and it will “machine air” off the end of the material and catch those.

By “making the area bigger”, Mike means to increase the length of the dado past the edges of the work. Do this by a tad more than half the diameter of the bit on both the edges.

That worked, thanks.

Alternately, use a suitable corner option:

(you’d need to rotate the geometry 90 degrees though)
